EAU CLAIRE, Wis. –– Luther Midelfort will offer cancer awareness events in April:
“Breathe Easy,” Health Break discussion: 7 p.m. Thursday, April 15, Borders, 4030 Commonwealth Ave.
Dr. Sandeep Basu, Luther Midelfort oncologist, will discuss new treatments for lung cancer. Margaret Ott, a registered pharmacist at Midelfort Pharmacy & Home Medical, will discuss available products and resources to quit smoking. There will be time for questions.
Health Break is a free monthly talk offered by Luther Midelfort providers in conjunction with Borders.
CARE Fair (Cancer Awareness, Resources and Education): 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at Oakwood Mall, near the “Oakwood Forest” play area and the Luther Midelfort kiosk.
This free fair will be staffed by Luther Midelfort healthcare professionals to help you learn more about cancer prevention and resources. Shoppers will find:
• Free computerized breast cancer risk assessment
• Free blood pressure checks
• Guidelines for breast and testicular self-examinations
• Tobacco cessation information
• Sun and skin safety tips
• Mastectomy and lymphedema products and information
• American Cancer Society and other community resources
• Coloring activity for children
