EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — “Happy Falentine’s Day”? The spelling might not always be correct, but the sentiment is unmistakable.
Luther Midelfort food service staff will be delivering St. Valentine’s Day cards prepared by students from Eau Claire’s Northwoods Elementary School during the lunch hour on Sunday, Feb. 14. The valentines will accompany each patient’s lunch order in the hospital.
The more than 100 brightly adorned and colorful construction paper cards carried get well wishes to recipients while also wishing them a “Happy Valentine’s Day,” or in the case of one card, “Happy Falentine’s Day.” Inside, the card went on to read: “I hope you feel better, get well, and rest more to get better.”
Luther Midelfort has been receiving St. Valentine’s Day cards from local schoolchildren for several years, said Dave Challe, director of Luther Midelfort Food & Nutrition Services.
“It really brightens patients’ days,” he said.
Not knowing the card recipients didn’t deter any of the well-wishers — most who addressed their valentines to “A Special Person,” and signed them from “A Friend.”
