EAU CLAIRE, Wis. –– Beginning December 14, Luther Midelfort is starting a support group for anyone suffering from or affected by multiple myeloma.
Multiple myeloma is an incurable but treatable cancer of the plasma cells. In multiple myeloma, plasma cells are altered and multiply excessively. This uncontrolled growth interferes with several functions of the body.
Patients, caregivers and family members can share information and experiences regarding understanding of the disease and treatment. One of the goals of this support group is to ensure that correct information about multiple myeloma is being shared.
The Multiple Myeloma Support Group will meet for the first time from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, in the fourth floor clinic conference room, near the west elevators, at Luther Midelfort, 1400 Bellinger St. Parking is available in the clinic parking lot.
Meetings will continue at the same time and location on the second Monday of each month.
This is a free service. For more information about the Multiple Myeloma Support Group, e-mail eauclairemyeloma@me.com or call Luther Midelfort’s Oncology Department at 715-838-6072.
