EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — Luther Midelfort plans to open its second Express Care site this fall inside Mega Foods West, 2615 N. Clairemont Ave.
Express Care is a walk-in clinic providing treatment for patients ages 18 months and older with conditions such as strep throat, sinus infections, skin conditions and other minor medical issues that require prompt treatment.
Express Care accepts insurance while eliminating cost barriers for the underinsured or uninsured by charging a flat fee of about $50 per service.
Most visits take an average of 15 minutes, and evening and weekend hours are available.
Visit details will be included in a Luther Midelfort medical record so that, if necessary, present and future care providers can follow up and coordinate continuing care. This provides a level of continuity not found in many convenience care models elsewhere.
Luther Midelfort’s first Express Care site opened in August at South Point Shopping Center, 2839 Mall Drive.

Consumers Cooperative Association (CCA) operates three Mega Foods supermarkets in Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls, 12 Mega Mart convenience stores, two Mega Lube centers and a Mega Fuels petroleum division. CCA and Mega Management employ more than 800 in the Chippewa Valley. CCA has an active membership of 32,000 households and is the nation’s largest retail food cooperative.

Express Care is staffed by nurse practitioners, supported by Luther Midelfort’s Family Medicine physicians. As part of Luther Midelfort’s fully integrated system of care, Express Care patients also will have access to care at Luther Midelfort and at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, if needed. Express Care will complement other Luther Midelfort services that bring a full spectrum of care options to patients, such as extended primary care hours, Urgent Care and the Emergency Department.
